COVID-19: What Are We Seeing?

Below is information I have gathered relative to the coronavirus outbreak. I share the information here only for the purpose of helping others be aware of things that are not being reported in the media. It is not my desire or intention to cause fear, and I strongly encourage people to remain calm. Please form your own opinions about the information and do your own research.

369,000 Chinese students in the USA during 2018/2019 academic year. (https://www.statista.com/statistics/372900/number-of-chinese-students-that-study-in-the-us/)

"Considered the largest human migration on the planet, Chunyun--the 40-day period when Chinese people head home to celebrate the Lunar New Year Spring Festival with their families--officially began on January 10 and will end on February 18." (https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/chunyun-2020-lunar-new-year-travel-rush-china/index.html)

More than 7,358 people under voluntary self quarantine in the U.S. There are minimal quarantine requirements and apparently no testing:

"Thousands of Americans voluntarily self-quarantine after returning from China.... It's up to the state and local health departments to decide how to manage their residents under self-quarantine.... They have had no fever and no cough, and they aren't necessarily being tested for the virus." (https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/thousands-americans-voluntarily-self-quarantine-after-returning-china-n1138731)

Only 3 states currently able to test for coronavirus (CA, NE, IL). (https://www.cnbc.com/2020/02/21/only-three-us-states-can-test-for-coronavirus-says-public-lab-group.html)

47 of our states received coronavirus test kits that were faulty, and they've all been recalled now. So samples can only be sent direct to the CDC for testing. And the CDC is only testing people who have traveled to China OR had close contact with someone who has AND has fever or symptoms of respiratory illness.(source)

426 people have been tested in the US as of Feb. 25, 2020. This "represents cases detected and tested in the United States through U.S. public health surveillance systems since January 21, 2020. It does not include people who returned to the U.S. via State Department-chartered flights." (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-in-us.html)

Italy confirmed cases doubling daily, on average. They are testing people. Honest reporting and immediate action to contain.

Singapore: immediate, massive action. Testing everyone. Highly detailed, honest reporting.

"... analysis by the leading international group modeling the disease estimated last week that 'about two thirds of COVID-19 cases exported from mainland China have remained undetected worldwide, potentially resulting in multiple chains of as yet undetected human-to-human transmission outside China.'" If you still think concerns about the coronavirus are all fear porn, watch this.   Keep informed and stay healthy!

What's Been Happening Today

Coronavirus Containment Has Failed "A leaked report claims that actual covid-19 cases within China are 52x higher than the 78K reported by authorities. "Since yesterday, new cases have been reported in Sweden, Greece, France, Spain, Germany, and, of course, Italy.... The virus appears as virulent as ever." Global infection is climbing at an exponential (non-linear) rate, with cases doubling worldwide every 4 to 5 days. This video report covers a lot of different aspects of the coronavirus situation as it stands today.
